Arrive Chipping Campden.Travel to Chipping Campden where your first night’s accommodation is booked. Have a relaxing evening before your start. Chipping Campden is a historic market town and beautiful example of Cotswold stone craftsmanship.
Chipping Campden to Broadway Walking from Chipping Campden, one of the best of the Cotswold market towns, the trail climbs on to an escarpment offering fine views across the Vale of Evesham. You will walk to Broadway Tower then down to the picturesque town of Broadway with its honey coloured houses and fine old English tea rooms. [Approx 6 Miles / 10 Kms]
Broadway to Wood Stanway The route today climbs an escarpment to the remains of an Iron Age hill fort called Shenberrow Camp then descends to the pretty villages of Stanton and Stanway before finishing in the hamlet of Wood Stanway[Approx 6 Miles / 10 Kms]
Wood Stanway to Winchcombe Today you will enjoy lovely views across the Vale of Eveshamnd pass the medieval pilgrimage site of Hailes Abbey before reaching Winchcombe, the ancient capital of Mercia and nearby Sudeley Castle, dating back to the 12th century. [Approx 5 Miles / 8Kms]
Winchcombe to Cleeve Hill The trail ascends to “Belas Knap” the neolithic long barrow and onto the highest point of the Cotswolds; Cleeve Hill (317mtrs). Enjoy the views over Cheltenham and on a clear day as far as the Black Mountains in Wales [Approx6 Miles / 10Kms]
Cleeve Hill to DowdeswellToday you will continue south passing through Bill Smylie’s butterfly reserve walking on quiet lanes and paths before eventually going through woodland and descending to Dowdewell reservoir at the conclusion of your day’s walk [Approx 5 Miles / 8 Kms]
