The Cotswold Way, for all ages and walking ability

We often get asked at The Cotswold Walking Company ‘what is the walking like?’ on The Cotswold Way or ‘what if I only want to walk a few miles a day?’

Well ,firstly The Cotswolds are visited by millions of visitors every year , approximately 38 million to be more exact. The very good news for walkers of all abilities is that only a tiny fraction actually take the time to walk and explore the region on foot. There are lots of small villages and hamlets that receive little tourism each year. They remain as they have been for hundreds of years; unspoilt by the passing of time. So, the very best way to see The Cotswolds is on foot.

The Cotswold Way route and our own Cotswold Walking Company trail ‘Cotswold Finest’ do not fill up with walkers every year,  in fact you may only see a few other walkers on these routes in high season. That is the beauty and attraction to hikers of walking in The Cotswolds. The region remains unspoilt and many aspects of life for people of The Cotswolds has not changed for decades.

Now, in terms of ability, the walking on the Cotswold Way  is moderate, there are no big hills or mountains. The highest point is Cleeve Hill at 314 metres. The landscape is rolling, green, lush countryside that is almost as famous as the Cotswold villages you will visit. At The Cotswold Walking Company we offer a range of itineraries to suit hikers coming from all over the world. If, however, you cannot find an itinerary to suit then drop us an email and we will organize a personal itinerary for you. If its only three nights or if you have three weeks. If you are walking a couple of miles per day or twenty miles, we are here to make sure you get a wonderful Cotswold Walking Holiday experience.

We wish you Happy Hiking…
